Reddit communities move to Discord after protests

Reddit protests have persisted through despite company threats to takeover subreddits. The company managed to carry out its threats on one of the biggest subreddit, r/malefashionadvice with five million users, which backfired on the company. Moderators initially gave in to the threats by going public, but then later made itself private again, because of the impact on disabled moderators who had been relying on the accessibility features of third-party apps. Shell has agreed to pay $15.9 million to communities in Nigeria impacted by four oil spills that occurred from its pipelines in the Niger Delta between 2004 and 2007. Shell has agreed to pay $15.9 million in compensation to communities in Nigeria impacted by four oil spills that occurred from its pipelines in the Niger Delta between 2004 and 2007. "Under the settlement , the Shell Pet roleum Development Company of Nigeria (SDC) as operator of the SPDC joint venture will pay an amount of $15.9 million for the benefit of the communities and the individual claimants," the Shell Pet roleum Development Company said in a statement.
